We have been busy bees discovering our new book The Emperor's Egg this week. We have looked at where the book is set, what life is like for the penguins and we have written some amazing descriptions using alliteration and personification. This afternoon we also created our own life cycle of a penguin wheel and discussed each stage of the life cycle with our partners.

Today we did our own research into why we celebrate bonfire night. We used the iPads and lots of talking to our friends about what they already knew to find out lots of facts and then we used these to create our own presentations. We showed them to the rest of the class - we were very brave!

Today we received a letter from a local fish and chip shop asking us to design them a new patty to sell in their shop to celebrate The City of Culture 2017. We researched about how patties were made and what they were usually made from. Then we taste tested lots of different ingredients to decide which ones we were going to use in our own patties. Some we loved, some we....well.... let's say they ended up in the bin! We're really looking forward to making the real thing later on this week.
